The Procedure
There are two procedures: the upper eyelids and the lower eyelids. For the upper eyelids: typically, the incision starts within the natural crease of the eye's inside corner and extends slightly beyond the outside corner into the crow's feet or laugh lines. Through this incision, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed. The incision line follows the natural contour of the upper eyelid and is hidden when healed. For the lower eyelid: the incision is usually concealed just below the lower lashes. Through this incision, excess skin, muscle and fat are removed. The excess fat can be redistributed to reduce puffiness, or the underlying muscles can be tightened.

Before and After
After surgery, many symptoms may be experienced such as blurred vision, tightness around the eyes, discomfort, bruising and swelling. Within the first week, stitches dissolve or are removed, non-strenuous activity can be attempted and bruising will begin to fade. Makeup can also be used to conceal any discoloration.
